Where can I buy a Diamond certified to be from ALROSA, the Russian Diamond Company?
I have tried a few of the diamond sellers herein the Atlanta area, and asked them if they would be able to get me a diamond from ALROSA, the diamond company of Russia. They told me that they could not trace their diamonds back to the company who mined the diamonds, so I then asked how they certify that the Diamonds are blood diamonds or not. My Fiance is Russian, and her brother who is Russian was stationed on the Russian Submarine of the same name of the Mining Company. So, tell me Yahoo Answers, how can I find a diamond that is certified to be mined by the ALROSA company?
Well, where is the list? Also, Diamonds that are bought from Debeers (at least from what I am told) are not denoted as to what company DeBeers bought it from, therefore the Jeweler has no idea where the Diamonds came from...All they know is that they came from Debeers in Antwerp..etc...
You simply cannot.
Alrosa sells only into the wholesale market and jewelry business to chosen partners, the sightholders. All diamond mining companies do so.
De Beers has indeed an agreement with Alrosa, in which Alrosa supplies a specific part of its production to De Beers.
The provenance of a diamond is not marked on the reports from the Gemolgical Laboratories.
There is no way you can trace it.
But, an experienced diamond dealer can sell you a gem with a typical Russian cut, and they usually come from Alrosa. This might get you what you want.
Blood diamonds are basically not traded through the major chain of diamond supply, as no dealer wants to be cut off from supplies by the system. they are a fractional sale outside the established networks. Chances are very big you will never ever see one in your life.

De Beers trades rough in London and not in Antwerp basically. De Beers has its own mines, and buys from Alrosa also, they buy on the open market, too. De Beers know exactly where all the diamonds they sell come from.
The jewellers you find retailing to you, buy from sightholders, who buy in turn from mining companies like De Beers. These sightholders or their clients polish the stones then and resell them. De Beers does not sell polished diamonds, except what they retail directly themselves through their own stores.
