Which car companies own who?
Anyone have a list (or just know) what car companies are owned by what other car companies? Up to date possibly? Example, I hear Ford actually owns Volvo and Lexus (as of '08). So when you are buying that new Volvo you arn't actually buying a genuine swiss car anymore its cheaper, not as legendarily strong as Volvo's used to be. And BMW is now the only independently owned car company? I hear even Ferrari is owned by another major car company, nissan owns a few. Dont quote me on these facts, I dont actually know... thats why I am asking.

-Ford ownes Mercury, Lincoln, Jaguar, Volvo and LandRover. They bought Volvo, Jaguar and Aston Martin in the 90's. They sold Aston Martin this year to a Middle eastern car parts company.
-Daimler Chrysler owns Dodge, Mercedes, Chrysler, Jeep, Smart, Plymouth, and Mitsubishi. Chyrlser and Mercedes joined either in the 90's or the early 2000's.
-Mazda owns itself, but Ford owns a small percentage of Mazda so they can use some of their parts and designs.
-Honda makes Acura
-Toyota makes Lexus and Scion.
-Volkswagen owns and makes Audi, Bently, Skoda, Seat, Lamborghini, Spyker, Bugatti, and they work with Porsche.
